The Fiddler and his Maidens
This is Stanton Drew southern circle. one of numerous rings at Stanton Drew. The local legend is that a wedding party was taking place on a Saturday evening. At midnight the fiddler stopped playing as it was the sabbath. A new fiddler took over, and the maidens danced and danced until they turned to stone. The new fiddler was non other than the devil himself. Too much local scrumpy if you ask me!!
